For more than 70 years, the Pound Ridge Garden Club has been home to generations of horticulture and floral design enthusiasts. In addition to learning together about gardening technique and flower arranging, we collaborate on a wide range of civic projects to preserve and enhance the natural beauty and neighborly spirit of Pound Ridge.

June 25: Day at the Nursery:
Although the weather was extremely hot we had a nice turnout at the Nursery. Club members assisted customers and the winning $250 raffle ticket was won by a customer from Pound Ridge. Proceeds from the raffle benefit civic projects performed by the club. |

“Hummingbirds, Jeweled Acrobats in the Garden
Our speaker will be Sally Brokett, president of the Daytime Gardeners of North Haven, CT. An avid birdwatcher for many years, Sally will offer tips on attracting hummingbirds to your yard and share her experiences with birdwatching and backyard birding. Her presentation will feature many slides showing the variety of hummingbirds she has observed both in the United States and in Costa Rica.

Recent events
The Pound Ridge Garden Club collaborated with other volunteer groups in town at the Earth Day Everyday Festival. We explained the work of the club, answered gardening questions, demonstrated family friendly gardening projects, and took orders for spring flowering bulbs.

Following Adam Wheeler’s presentation on Dwarf Conifers and Shrubs, several club members visited Broken Arrow Nursery in Hamden, CT. After a successful shopping spree, the group reconvened at Ristorante Luce for a delicious lunch before returning home.
