For more than 70 years, the Pound Ridge Garden Club has been home to generations of horticulture and floral design enthusiasts. In addition to learning together about gardening technique and flower arranging, we collaborate on a wide range of civic projects to preserve and enhance the natural beauty and neighborly spirit of Pound Ridge.

We are always happy to welcome new members at any level of experience, whether you have extensive knowledge of horticulture and Floral design or little or no knowledge at all. The club is a place to share ideas and information, learn from our many accomplished and talented speakers, and develop your skills as a gardener and designer.

Our summer schedule has drawn to a close, but the Pound Ridge Garden Club still has a few busy months before lectures start up again in the Spring.

January and February Meetings
Due to changes in the Pound Ridge Library program schedule, the Pound Ridge Garden Club is in the process of rearranging our 2026 program schedule.  Our February meeting will be held via Zoom on Monday, February 2 at noon.  Dr.Judith Taylor, a horticultural historian  will give a lecture entitled  “Practicing history without a license: some stories about people and plants”.  The Zoom link will be provided soon.

Dr Taylor was born in London and educated at Somerville College, Oxford and the Oxford University Medical School. In 1959 she immigrated to the United States and became a board certified neurologist in New York. Upon retirement in 1994 she and her late husband, Irvin S. Taylor MD, moved to San Francisco. Creating a new garden led her to investigate horticultural history. She has written seven books on the subject as well as numerous    articles. The history of how modern cultivars have been developed is one of her particular interests. Two of her books treat of that in depth. She is now working on a history of the tulip, “The Tulip, Then and Now”.

See her web site: www.horthistoria.com.

This presentation will be open to the public via Zoom.
