For more than 70 years, the Pound Ridge Garden Club has been home to generations of horticulture and floral design enthusiasts. In addition to learning together about gardening technique and flower arranging, we collaborate on a wide range of civic projects to preserve and enhance the natural beauty and neighborly spirit of Pound Ridge.

We are always happy to welcome new members at any level of experience, whether you have extensive knowledge of horticulture and Floral design or little or no knowledge at all. The club is a place to share ideas and information, learn from our many accomplished and talented speakers, and develop your skills as a gardener and designer.

"2 Hour Mushroom Growing Class"
Picture

Speaker:  Aaron Hodgins Davis
Hodgins Harvest's Founder and "Chief Fungi Enthusiast" Aaron Hodgins Davis is a former motion graphics designer who got tired of sitting in front of a computer all day. He started growing oyster mushrooms as a hobby in his home and became enamored with the culinary value of oysters and other wood-loving varieties of mushrooms. He grew the hobby into a part-time side job and then into a full-time gig. Aaron quit his day job in 2020 to focus solely on growing Hodgins Harvest's operations and brand. He will bring supplies so that you can create your own mushroom substrate.
Other recent activities
As in previous years, the Pound Ridge Garden Club, made and donated floral wreathes to the Town for the annual Memorial Day ceremony as well as proudly marching in the parade from the Elementary school to the cemetery.
Civic Improvement
We actively maintain several garden spaces around town.  Here, several members removed weeds from our rain garden at the Moat Family Triangle on Bedford road.
Last meeting
At our May meeting, club member, Elliott G. Gross, MD spoke to us about poisonous plants that we can commonly find on our property.  It was surprising to learn that many common garden plants can be toxic to humans or pets if eaten.  It was a very educational presentation with  much audience participation.
