“Cultivating Sustainable Flowers and Design”
Speaker: Xenia D'Ambrosi - Founder of Sweet Earth Company, a floral and garden design studio located on a sustainable flower farm in Pound Ridge, N.Y. Xenia describes herself as the lead designer and farmer florist. However she is very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher and lecturer. It promises to be a memorable experience.

NGC Master Judge and NGC 4 Star Member Consultant in Environmental, Garden and Landscape Design, and Horticulture Classification Chair of the 2024 CT flower Show. in addition to many FGCCT committees.
Her extremely productive mini farm in Stonington, CT is a 2000 square foot vegetable and flower cutting garden consisting of 24 raised beds overlooking the Pawcatuck River. She will have tips on seed starting and how to preserve the foods grown for future use, in addition to discussing the design and building of her garden. She will have recipes to share as well.

“Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants in the Pound Ridge Area”
Speaker: Heather Flournoy, chief forager of Wild Nearby, has over 25 years of foraging under her belt. In 2019 she launched Wild Nearby to share her knowledge and love of wild food and medicine. Many locals know her as the founder of the former Katonah Green environmental Meetup group, co-founder of Really Social Strategies, or chief technical wizard of Cyber Marm.

Ken has been growing Dahlias as a hobby for about 20 years. He is a member of the American Dahlia Society (ADS), the Greenwich Dahlia Society, the Mid-Island Dahlia Society, and also an American Dahlia Society Candidate Judge. Ken is a Registered Architect and works for a firm located in Hastings on Hudson.
His presentation will provide an in-depth description of purchasing and planting Dahlia tubers, the care and maintenance of Dahlia plants, and guidance for digging old overwintering Dahlia tubers. He will provide information on the resources offered by the American Dahlia Society an also on growing Dahlias for ADS shows. Attendees will receive a package of technical handouts.

“Table Designs”
Table design exhibition by members featuring a Tray Table for One and a Table for Two, Designs will be discussed and pointers given to the participants. There will also be a slideshow of exhibits from the recent 9th district flower show.

“Fifth annual mailbox decorating contest”
This will be a contest open to all residents of Pound Ridge. And, this year we are widening the scope to allow more creativity. You can now decorate your mailbox for the Autumn or Winter holidays. Just take a photograph and send it to the club. Decorations can be for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukkah, Kwanza, or general autumn or winter themes. Multiple entries allowed. A drawing for a $50 gift certificate to The Market at Pound Ridge Square will be awarded to one adult entrant and a $50 gift certificate to Booksy Galore will be awarded to a youth entrant. Young children will, of course, be allowed parental help. Prizes will be awarded in January.
